Monika Vasey is a professional harpist in Washington DC, Maryland, and Northern Virginia where she is in demand as a performer and teacher. In addition to her position as Music Director at the Concord Hill School, she maintains a thriving private harp studio in her home and directs the Maryland Classic Youth Harp Ensemble at Strathmore Hall. Ms. Vasey is a regular coach for the Maryland Classic Youth Orchestras and Young Artists of America, also at Strathmore.
A graduate of the Peabody Institute of Music at Johns Hopkins University, Ms. Vasey holds a Masters degree in Music Education as well as Bachelors degrees in both Music Education and Harp Performance. As a frequent performer and lecturer, she has traveled the US, Canada, Mexico, Germany, Holland, France, Spain, Italy, the United Arab Emirates and Switzerland. She performs regularly as a soloist and orchestral harpist, often engaging in studio work, as well as many freelance events such as weddings and corporate functions. Performance highlights include engagements for the 44th President of the United States, the President of Liberia, the Kennedy Center Honors, Kennedy Center Millennium Stage, and many other high-profile clients. An advocate of new music compositions for the harp, Ms. Vasey has concertized with numerous chamber groups and orchestral associations, and continues to take on new and exciting music projects.
